Works by Brazilian master artisans are on display at the Artesol Festival in Rio de Janeiro

September 14, 2026

Locals and tourists have until January 31, 2019, to check out the Festival of Intangible Culture of Craftsmanship at the Environment Museum in the Botanical Garden. It is the culmination of 20 years of Artesol in promoting Brazilian regional handicrafts. Over this time, the organization has shared the stories of master artisans, brought visibility to their work, and championed handmade craftsmanship.

More than 300 pieces are on display. They were handcrafted by various artisans, masters, and folk artists from 20 Brazilian states, including the Waujá, Marubo, Terena, Canela, Wai Wai, Waimiri-Atroari, Baniwa, Karajá, and Enawenê-Nawê indigenous peoples.

Each room is themed and divided by the raw materials used to create the works. The festival also features workshops with the masters and seminars. You can access the full schedule here and sign up for the workshops you would like to attend.
